Description:

----UPDATE--- SEPT 15 2020----
In the set I clobbered together here: https://www.pling.com/p/1421909/
The icon set is far more expansive than this one. I went all out, including even the login icons for different desktop environments.
Seeing that, you may wonder... Is this set going to get updated to include all those icons too? Yes. I am starting that project now and will also update, revamp or improve many existing icons. I will then move on to Archangel-12, GT3 etc.
----UPDATE SEPT 21 2020-----
I promised above a large Update. Today, I deliver it.
And it really is large... a LOT of new icons have been added. A lot of new SVG's have been added, including Login Icons for popular Distros. But most importantly, a LOT of icons have been reworked. I moved quickly to release the last update and in so doing, I used a General purpose Background on many icons, upon which sat a more specialized Outline of what that icon was. I have remade many icons to be full icons of their own- See the New Image file number Five for a viewing of some of these.
In addition- I have completely scrapped all the action icons entirely. I have remade them- in J.J. Yings Original Azenis 2 Style, but repurposed with a new look for this stylized Dar0ckX "The Preface" set. Every single Action icon has been remade for better visibility and more clarity of their purpose as well as adding some depth and skeumorphism.

Azenis2-EX-icons set for Cinnamon, Mate, Gnome, XFCE, Budgie, Whatever you are using...
Please post if you find any issues so I can correct them.

NOTE: The last thing I want to do on this Planet Earth is re-color this set. When I set about the project of reworking the set, I tried to set the gradients as Layers in order to facilitate fast and efficient recoloring. That prospect failed. ---I will keep looking for a way to make recoloring Icon sets faster --- As it is, I must individually do it one icon at a time. It takes more time and is more painstaking to re-color- than to create a new set. ---UPDATE--- While playing with XNconvert (instead of Gimp Batch processor) I have found a way to recolor in batch processing by inverting the entire icon color, adjusting the hue, then inverting back. It is a three step process, that then becomes a six step in resizing- BUT I may soon be able to offer recoloring icons, after-all. Sorry to take so long to figure out a way to do it. Searching the web for "How To" is utterly useless and it's not like anyone spoke up offering any suggestions (because no one ever did. Thanks.) Yeah, I said it.

To Install:
Extract to /usr/share/icons OR to ~/.icons
If you install in home directory and NOT to /usr/share/icons, then many root icons, app icons or symbolic .svg icons from this theme will not show up.
Select with your distros theme selector or tweak tool.

SOME ICONS, like Firestorm, will not just appear since the app that references the icon directs to a different location than the icon folder. So you need only move the icons from the 128x128 or the 48x48 folder to your Firestorm folder (Whereever you put that... You can find the icons on your machine by searching for firestorm_48.png)or the folder of whichever app you are using that is not showing up otherwise. You can check if the icon exists in this set by searching any "apps" folder int he azenis2-EX icon set folder for that app name.
Others, like the Discord Icon will show up fine if you installed Discord from Terminal, but Not If You Installed from Snap. So, for Snap Installations, like the Firestorm above, you must replace the existing icon. Others you can often find in your hicolor folder.
Ask if you have any questions.

HISTORY lesson:
These icons are based off of the original "Preface of the Cyan Magic" icons by Dar0ckx.
https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/iconpackager/1673
Dar0ckx's original set contained 66 distinct icons total.
Ezy, JamesHardy88 and Technoshaun used these icons in porting J.J. Yings Azenis Theme to Linux, back around 2009 or earlier.
This set is an EXpansion of that set, with new icons added and gaps filled in, to suit Linux Distros that use a variety of settings and objects.
Many thanks to J.J. Ying, for being a good sport and supportive of a project that for him was long in the past; Ezy for porting Azenis to KDE and providing the Preface Icon set with it; To Dar0ckx for designing and making the original 66 icons; To JamesHardy88 and Technoshaun for inspiring me to continue the Azenis theme on Linux.
I am an amateur and a novice, but honestly speaking, I think this set has developed Beautifully.

I hope you enjoy. :)

And if you don't enjoy this set, that is perfectly okay. Just remember: I hate you.

Love your work. What I am missing is an icon for Fedora Updates.
Hopefully one of these days to see Azenis window decorations.
All in all great work.

There are several Azenis Window Decorations available at this time, depending on which Desktop Environment you are using. Including the Azenis-Black, which is what I am using now.
I no longer will theme GNOME desktop, however.
I will need to look into the Fedora Updates icon as I never used Fedora before. I am sure I can find the icon shortly.

Talk about a blast from the past. I LOVED this icon theme and used it along with other Azemis type themes to create an Azenis desktop that I used for quite a long time. I hope the flat trend is diminishing and we can go back to have all kinds of wild, different and colorful icon themes like we had in the past. Thanks aravisian for updating this theme.

Thanks Snowboarder. Yes, I generally like 3D icons or skeuomorphism. Have never understood the trend toward flat pastel looking icons. I wonder if it is truly a user trend, or a trend we are told that we like, whether we really do or not.

My take on that: it is a theme type that we are told that we like and just about everyone has gone along with it. There are a handful of flat themes I like but for the most part I would like to see the community going back to making the coloful and unique sets we used to see all the time. The 2 icon themes I use the most are the Ollis themes and GNUstep. Now Azenis will join that rotation.

I agree with your take entirely. The trend includes that we are told is that theming is "bad" and the active Developers dislike theming as it detracts from the Appearances that make their developments recognizable. The gnome look is essentially a brand image.
A reminder should be: The Gnu General License encourages Free Software - Free from restrictiveness and non-user Control. I believe that themes and Icon sets are a Strong Message in favor of Free Software.

If you click support on the website, it is a general pool of Pling / Open.
Updating the icons or making the themes has helped me learn how to take control of my desktop -or at least take some of it back. Along the way, I share my experiments in learning in case others can enjoy the results. Though it partly is why I REALLY appreciate it when those thta download notify if something is wrong.
I have thought about setting up a patreon acct before... But the idea seemed silly. Maybe I should consider it, if that allows me to sometimes take time off work to do something I enjoy and others can enjoy and learn a lot more, faster.

10 Just a heads up bro, I appreciate all the hard work that you do, and have put into this old school amazing icon theme. For those who don't remember just how great these icons were, I used them on my Zorin OS 5.2 desktop back when we had Gnomenu which I seriously miss. Back when you could use DockbarX with Gnomenu, and have the best looking desktop period!! Been rocking Linux since Ubuntu 8.04!!

I did get a bit too harsh, didn't I? It was late already when I found the issue and realized why suddenly, the set was not working. I probably should have waited a day.
I moved over to Linux around the beginning of last year. I had never heard of Azenis or GnoMenu. By the time I got with the program, all of it was a thing of the past. And the more I looked around, the more it looked like that was a trend that would not only continue, but sharpen.
I had hoped that if my novice self could clobber together some poor, but working themes, I may inspire others to do the same. I have never been a complacent type of person and I like to stand up to what I see if wrong.
Demanding control over users desktops is wrong, even if we can call it Right to enjoy diversity and customization.
Now, I am using Zorin 15.3 and rocking multiple sets of icons, some uploaded here, some not. I have an App Menu rewritten and customized to closely resemble the GnoMenu and I uploaded some means of doins similar for Arc menu, Zorin Menu, Whisker Menu, Stark Menu and Cinnamenu- with varying degrees of failure.
We can rock if we want to, no matter what others try to seize control of.

Nice theming! I'd only change the Libreoffice icons to have different colors for contrast, but others would probably disagree. This reminds me of the Flat No More icons in their lack of flatness (a feature becoming a rarity these days). I've often asserted the best (i.e., most unique) themes are lost to the past (i.e., obsolete/deprecated). Themes like this just prove my point.
