Perhaps to solve the complaints about not standing out, without disrupting the material design aesthetic, why not put a drop shadow under the light themes, and a backlighting (basically just a white-colored drop shadow) under the dark themes?

The white set is fine because it has a black outline so it's visible even on a white background. If the dark set had white or light grey outline, then it would stand out even on a dark background. As it is, if you have a dark desktop theme or wallpaper, there are times the dark cursor all but disappears.

10 I LOVE these! They're so 'happy-looking', except for the scroll and crossbones which is 'angry-looking', and exactly how it should look! I think this is a great set that will be my default from here on!

for HiDPI already available 64x64 size. Initial size 32x32, if scale to 48x48 cursors will be blured and quality deteriorate

7 The dark ones need a white border around them so they're visible over dark backgrounds.

logout and then login
im not using gnome and changing the cursor doesnt immediately(some cursors). But everything works fine once i re-log.

you extract archive to directory ~/.icons?
when index theme located for example:
~/.icons/material_cursors/index.theme

or set on dconf-editor

I see it in the gnome tools, actually I am setting the new cursor exactly in the tool and the cursor isn't changing, even after restart or logout.

Maybe other 3-d party cursors not worked too? (i mean installed dorm pling)

try set config on gsettings (dconf-editor):
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-theme material_cursors
gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.interface cursor-size 32

Also maybe XSettings (update-alternatives) interferes set right cursor theme...

I like the concept, but as others have noted, a contrasting color is needed so the dark cursors don't get lost in the background.
