Description:

A variation of the default BGRT Plymouth theme with Xiaomi "spinner" (like in MIUI phones).
Contains Manjaro branding (watermark.png), replace it with whatever you like.
Do note that Xiaomi logo present on the preview here is just my own BGRT image, your will have your own depending on your motherboard / laptop vendor.
Encrypted setups are supported.

1) For Ubuntu:
sudo update-alternatives --install /usr/share/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth default.plymouth /usr/share/plymouth/themes/bgrt-mi/bgrt-mi.plymouth 110 && sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth
Then select "bgrt-mi".

2) For Arch/Manjaro/Fedora:
plymouth-set-default-theme -R bgrt-mi

Spinner bg got transparent, so u can set another background color if you want.

bgrt/passphrase related changes 1 year ago

Animation is shown during the boot-up, passphrase prompt moved down under the BGRT logo, vendor's logo is not hidden when the text field is shown.
Minor thing: centered vendor logo on the preview.

Plymouth

Plymouth is a bootsplash for Linux supporting animations using Direct Rendering Manager and KMS driver. It gets packed into the initrd. Besides eye-candy, Plymouth also handles user interaction during boot. Wikipedia

Installation instructions:

  1. copy YOURTHEME folder to usr/share/plymouth/themes/YOURTHEME

  2. run in terminal:

sudo plymouth-set-default-theme YOURTHEME -R
