Description:

BigSur GRUB Theme

To install the theme, unpack the downloaded archive, and cd into it.

Then run the following terminal commands:

$ sudo chmod a+x install.sh

$ ./install.sh

BigSur theme was designed for the 1920x1080 resolution, but is compatible with other resolutions.

This GRUB theme does not work on ZFS filesystems.

If you use a Ventoy USB drive, there is a Ventoy theme in the GitHub repository.
Last changelog:

I didn't work fo me. I was using ZFS filesystem. After reinstalling the system (non-ZFS), it works smoothly. Please indicate that these setup doesn't work with ZFS.

Of course you can, you can either override this theme with another theme installation script, or remove the theme manually from the grub folder. You can find scripts for doing that online. Thanks for your rating!

Thanks for your rating and feedback! Could you please describe what you mean by more quality? If you mean better fonts, then unfortunately it is not possible due to GRUB limitations with bitmap. Also, make sure that your screen resolution is 1920x1080, as the GRUB theme on lower resolutions can appear a bit stretched.

I have no quality problem even on a small screen, what I mean by that is that it will be good to have higher qualities for those who have a higher definition

Report

Sure, I don't own any screens with higher definition, but I will see if I can emulate them, and make separate resolution versions.

don't worry it's not a problem for me. I use it with ventoy and I block the display at 1920x1080

It means that the install.sh is not executable. Please run the following command: sudo chmod a+x install.sh, and then run ./install.sh

Did you use the updated install.sh from version 1.0.1? I'm just confused, because I tested it multiple times, and it works.

GRUB

How to install a grub theme:

  1. Extract the theme to /boot/grub/themes/

  2. Edit /etc/default/grub file. Find the line starting with "#GRUB_THEME" and change it to "GRUB_THEME=/boot/grub/themes/[THEME_FOLDER]/[theme.txt]" (replace [THEME_FOLDER] ; [theme.txt] is probably OK ; remove "[]" brackets)

  3. Run sudo update-grub
