For the conversion I used the program perl sd2xc-2.5.pl adds KDE4 Compatibility, and adjusts the individual pointer animations with GIMP and XMC plugin.

I ever installed "TheCandyman", "AlienMind_II", "Jade Dreams" and "PlasticFantastic", if I close "Customize Theme" and then re-open it, the themes that I installed are no more in the "Pointer" list, how can I select the theme to switch?
BTW, I am using Ubuntu and Arch, I can find all these theme folders in ~/icons

Please try to use gimp-xmc-plugin or xcur2png.
Another solution is to apply the patch I posted on http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/CursorXP%2BFX+to+X11+Mouse+Theme+Converter?content=72405 by the title of "patch to change nominal size" before converting it by sd2xc-2.3.pl.

for your interest.
You must:
1. right mouse button: change background, but NOT the background, the theme !
2. in the theme menu: install,
3. search your downloaded cursor.tar.gz
3. open cursor.tar.gz
4. apply the new theme.
5. you can see immediately the installed cursor.
best regard !
